WHY A WOMAN HANGS GIFT CARDS ON THE DOOR OF HER HOUSE

Christine Long of suburban Nashville is a regular online shopper. She came up with a way to thank delivery drivers.

At first, Christine left a basket of snacks for the drivers on her front porch. But they, working a rigid schedule, didn’t notice and wouldn’t take the food. Then she found another way.

Christine buys $10 and $15 gift cards for fast food and coffee shops. She pins them at eye level right at the doorbell on the front porch. Nearby hangs a note: “Attention! Delivery drivers! Thank you for bringing our packages, please accept a treat!”

Thanks to the security camera, the woman could see the reaction of the drivers. Usually they were surprised, quickly took the gift card, waved in a friendly direction of the camera, and left.

One day the driver arrived, whose reaction touched Christine to tears. When he saw the card, he said: “What? You’ve got to be kidding me. I didn’t think anyone cared about us. You have no idea how much this will help us.”

Inspired by Christine’s idea, one of her friends now leaves gift cards for delivery drivers at her door, too.
