The parents discovered that their newborn daughter Olivia was breathing heavily. She was only nine days old and her parents decided to take her to hospital.
When the car stopped at a red light, Olivia’s mother told her husband that her daughter was getting worse and she couldn’t hear her breathing. They saw police officers in the next lane. The parents asked them for help. Among them was a policewoman, Mitrissina. She started massaging the child’s heart. “Amazingly, in such a situation, she remained calm and knew what to do,” Olivia’s father recalls.
Soon an ambulance arrived and the baby was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh. Doctors discovered the girl had a heart condition and would need an operation. The parents say that thanks to Mitricina and the doctors, their daughter was saved.
