Boy Wears Red Ballgown Skirt and Lipstick to Prom – Teachers Start Crying as He Appears

Korben, a 16-year-old, caused a stir on Twitter when he revealed that he wore a vibrant red skirt with a glitter tuxedo jacket to his prom.

His mom, Nina Green, shared pictures of him dressed in his stunning outfit over the weekend, which garnered attention on the social media platform.

The student walked onto the stage wearing a billowing ballgown skirt and glittering jacket, receiving loud applause from peers and staff at Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston, Norfolk.

According to Nina, at the age of 12, her son expressed a desire to attend his school prom wearing a gown. Four years later, they brought that vision to fruition.

Nina is proud of his honesty and the entire school’s overwhelmingly positive response.

She also tagged RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, who responded, ‘Ohhhhhhhh absolutely! You are an incredible, gorgeous mother, and your child is a STAR.’

Several quickly agreed with Michelle and praised Korben’s eye-catching attire.

‘He looks magnificent, his outfit is wonderful, and I adore his crown,’ one Twitter user said. I hope he had a fantastic prom.’

‘I must say that your son looks incredibly lovely in that crimson gown and crown of glory,’ observed another. One of the most beautiful prom dresses I’ve ever seen.’

‘Happiness. That is what life is supposed to be about. Being content. Making dreams come true. Being true to oneself is the finest way to live. ‘These are happy photographs,’ said a third.

The post garnered over 3,000 shares, including from various notable personalities, and received 119,400 likes on social media.

Mrs. Green expressed her awe over the overwhelming response, which she did not expect when she shared photos of her son embracing his true identity.

The positive outpour of love and encouragement outweighed the negative remarks, which they chose to disregard. Ultimately, she supports her son’s decision to live his life authentically, and that is what truly matters.

As soon as he emerged from the car, everyone burst into applause while she sobbed and some instructors shed tears.

The next day, while visiting Pride in London, an admirer approached the 16-year-old and said, “Are you the boy in the red dress?” ‘I believe you’re fantastic.’

Mrs. Green recalled her son’s affinity for gowns, as he has been performing as the flamboyant drag queen, Miss Frou Frou, since adolescence.

She explained his desire to express his feminine side by combining a tuxedo top with a frock bottom, inspired by American actor Billy Porter. He intended to attend the event as Korben, but in attire traditionally associated with women.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER

  • Would you let your child wear something like that to his high school graduation?

The issue of children making decisions similar to Korben’s has been widely debated. While some advocate that kids should have the freedom to express themselves without parental influence, others believe it is up to the parents to guide them in the right direction. In Korben’s situation, his mother allowed him to choose his appearance and was pleased with the outcome, just as her son was. It may have been the most suitable course of action for them.

  • How terrible could things have gotten without the crucial support from his parents, schoolmates, and teachers?
Things may have gone awry if Korben had not been encouraged by his parents or supported by his classmates and teachers. Although some social media users expressed negative views towards the case, positive feedback significantly outnumbered them. In actuality, the response was even more favorable as most people appeared content with Korben’s full expression of himself. Korben’s mother provided support, but outside opinions were beyond her control. Despite this, the outcome was successful, and Korben is sure to remember the experience for a long time.
