A little girl with Down syndrome was adopted by a single man: twenty families abandoned her

Severe trials were prepared for a little girl named Alba as soon as she was born.

As soon as the young mother saw her little newborn, she had no doubt that she did not need such a baby. She had Down syndrome and was left an orphan.

Later she had no fewer than twenty potential parents, but in the end none of them dared to tie their lives to a ‘special’ baby.

But two years ago, Alba did end up with an unconventional family. Luca Trapanese, 40, has no parents or children. In Italy, adopting children by single-parent families is a complicated process.

But social services responded to Luka’s wishes and he brought the 13-day-old girl home.

Perhaps years of experience in a specialised institution helped him. This work has taught him patience, empathy and the ability to communicate with people who are ill.

He went through many instances and interviews to qualify him to be Alba’s daddy. For two years now, the girl has been growing up in a happy family environment.

Luca raises her alone, but hopes to meet someone who wants to share the joy of fatherhood with him. In the evening he enjoys the company of his cheerful daughter, who loves to play and dance, and they both feel happy.
