Juan Carlos says: “My childhood was very difficult. My father was a drug addict and it hurt me a lot to see him living on the streets. He tried to quit drugs several times and went to rehab, but after a few weeks it all happened again. He didn’t have the willpower to change. I surprised him: I found him on the street and took him to the barber so he could cut his hair and shave his beard. I bought him new clothes and arranged for an auditorium for 300 people in Carthage so that he could sing and feel happy.
After that day, he seemed to feel remorseful for neglecting himself. My concern touched his heart and he felt he could move on. He became motivated and realized that he was still too young to die on the streets. The time came when he changed his outlook on life. He felt like he had a reason to live. I am her only son, and five months ago my daughter, her granddaughter, was born. She was the perfect motivation for my father, who decided to give her up on drugs.”
