Man sells car to pay for grandmother’s treatment, she helps him earn twice as much – Story of the day

Forced to choose between his dead father’s car and his grandmother’s heart surgery, the poor man chose to save his grandmother. Later, his grandmother changed his life overnight with an unbelievable surprise.

For many grandparents, life with grandchildren is an adventure. And every day is a gift to be enjoyed, cherished, loved and lived to the fullest. Florence, 75, and her 25-year-old grandson Dylan have seen life this way.

They lived in a small, cosy house and had little money, but that did not stop them from being happy. Until one day fate put them to the test. Florence clutched her chest and fell down beside the grave of Dylan’s parents…

“Granny, wake up!” – shouted Dylan. “What’s happened to you? Please don’t leave me! You’re all I’ve got!”

Dylan was just six months old when his parents were killed in a car accident on their way home from friends. Florence vowed to her daughter that she would raise her grandson to be a wonderful man, and she kept her promise in the end.

The poor grandmother exceeded all expectations and worked hard as a nurse to raise Dylan. And when he promised to look after her, she quit her job, proud of herself for keeping her promise to raise a responsible man.

Florence remembered this and collapsed in tears. Moments later an ambulance siren sounded in the quiet cemetery and she was rushed to hospital.

Depressed and hoping his grandmother could cope, Dylan fussed with the nurse.

“Doctor? Is she all right? How is she?” – he asked anxiously.

“Your grandmother is fine now. It was a mild heart attack. Nothing to worry about,” said the doctor. “But I have something to tell you. Please come into my office.”

Dylan’s heart beat faster as he followed the doctor.

“Your grandmother urgently needs a minor heart operation. The sooner you do it, the better,” said the doctor.

“Heart surgery?” – Dylan exclaimed. “All right, Doctor. How much will this operation cost?”

“Thirty thousand dollars.”

Dylan’s heart squeezed. He couldn’t afford that kind of money. He had just started working as a car mechanic at the local garage and didn’t have much money.

“What am I going to do now?” he muttered to himself, looking through the glass at his grandmother.

Suddenly his anguish was replaced by a smile of relief when an idea occurred to him. Dylan hurried to a friend who had long wanted to buy a second-hand car.

“Are you kidding me? You want to sell me your Mustang?” – Dylan’s friend Eric shouted.

“Yeah, I’ve got an emergency. And only you can help me.”

Dylan eventually sold the car for $30,000, but he was sad because it was the only precious memory of his late father. However, he realised that his grandmother’s life was more important than the car.

Florence’s operation was a success. She cried tears of joy because she wished she could live longer and not leave her grandson alone. And her prayers were answered. However, her joy quickly faded when she learned of Dylan’s sacrifice.

“You sold your father’s car to save my life?” – she shouted. “Darling, how will you work now? And that was your only memory of your father. Why did you sell it?”

Dylan was also distressed. He could not forget his car, but what mattered most to him was his grandmother’s life.

“Someday I’ll be able to buy a new car, Grandma. But what I can’t have is another grandmother as loving as you. I would do anything for you because you are the only one I have. I love you.” He took her hands in his.

Although Florence was delighted to hear this, she remembered something he had long wished for and prepared a surprise for him.

One evening, during a conversation, Dylan shared his dream of owning a car repair garage. It was just a wish, but now Florence has decided to make it a reality.

A few days later, Dylan was preparing to leave for work when he saw several cars parked near his house. In each of them, strangers waved at him.

“Me?” he replied with a gesture, embarrassed. The men got out of the car and walked up to him smiling.

“Hi son, how are you?” one of them greeted.

“We are so proud of you, young man!” said another.

Dylan was confused because he didn’t know any of them.

“Wait, what’s going on? I think you’re wrong, but I’m not… ”

“SURPRISE!!!” Florence shouted from behind.

Dylan had no idea what was going on until all the men gave him the keys to their cars and told him to fix their cars.

“Grandma, what’s going on?” he asked her, and after she told him, he burst into tears.

“These are my friends from the school where I worked,” she said. “Some of them are teachers, some are educators and former students, and they want to help you, son”.

Florence contacted them and told them about her grandson’s self-sacrifice and his dream. Together, they developed a plan to help her revitalize his garage. This included creating a social media account to invite those in need of affordable car repairs, so many former students and colleagues came to Dylan’s house with their cars.

“Oh my God, Grandma! It’s unbelievable!” cried Dylan. “But I don’t have a normal garage, and how am I going to fix them?”

“Don’t cry, son,” Florence said to comfort her grandson. “The biggest surprise is still waiting for you.”

She gave him the keys to the old garage next door, saying it now belonged to him. One of her friends volunteered to rent out his old car repair equipment until Dylan could afford a new one.

Therefore, in the shortest possible time, Dylan opened his car garage and became one of the most popular auto mechanics in the city. He hired more employees and in such a short time went from mechanic to boss.

Despite his newfound wealth and fame, Dylan was always grateful to his grandmother for making his dream come true. He also bought a new car, which cost twice as much as the one he sold, and gave the keys to it to his grandmother on the day of her 76th birthday.

“Let me be your driver, Grandma,” he joked on their first trip to church.

Florence wept with joy at the thought that Dylan’s parents would be happy too!
