AGE HAS NOT PREVENTED A MAN FROM REALISING HIS DREAM

At the age of 54, US serviceman Mark Cavender from Conway decided to quit his job and fulfill his dream.

The man went to the University of Central Arkansas in the fall of 2017 to study nursing. When asked what led him to that decision, Mark explained, “My wife died a few years ago of cancer, and I’ve always been drawn to medicine.”

“The nurses have always come to our aid in difficult moments. I would like to help other people who are going through the same things I went through,” said Mark.

Head of Nursing, Susan Gotto, said: “It’s never too late. It takes determination, brains and heart.”

Mark is studying surgery, midwifery and other subjects. For now, the student is looking around and thinking about which direction to take. He plans to graduate in May 2021.
