WHY THE COUPLE ADOPTED SEVEN CHILDREN AT ONCE

In 2019, Pam Tillis learned from a newspaper article that foster parents were being sought for seven children aged 4 to 14. Before that, four brothers and three sisters already lived in a foster family, but in 2018 they lost their parents in a car accident.

During the accident, the children received injuries of varying severity. After their recovery, volunteers began to look for a family for them. Pam, looking at the pictures of the children, said to herself, “I have to be their mother”. She asked her husband, Harry, if they could adopt the seven siblings. He said “yes”.

A married couple in California has five grown children. The children grew up and moved away from home. The husband and wife really wanted their big house to be full of children again.

That same evening, they called the number listed below the article. They were told that they had already received thousands of calls from people who wanted to become parents to children.

The siblings moved in with Pam and Harry in June 2019. For the first six months, everyone had to go through a lot of difficulties. The children did not sleep well because they had nightmares. One day, a seven-year-old child came to the foster parents’ bedroom at night. He wanted to make sure they weren’t missing. Pam told: “They desperately needed consistency and confidence that they would not be abandoned.”

The children now call their adoptive parents Mom and Dad. They also have a good relationship with the Willises’ own children. In August 2020, the couple officially adopted seven siblings.
