Spring Bowlin walked into her local Mississippi store. In line in front of her was an elderly man.

She wrote on Facebook, “The man’s products were scanned and he was told the total amount. He looked at me guiltily and started taking change out of his pockets. Perhaps he feared that the person standing in line behind him would be displeased.”

The old man apologized, his hands and voice trembling. The woman cashier said kindly: “Let’s count together.” While she was counting the money, the man kept apologizing. When the purchase was paid for, the man left.

Spring thanked the cashier for her patience and kindness. The cashier replied, “You don’t have to thank me. There is something wrong with our world if we have forgotten how to show kindness to one another.”
The Facebook post received a lot of positive comments, and it was shared by more 436,000 times. Here’s what users wrote:
“Thank you so much for your kindness to this sad old man. We need more people like you in this world.”
“It’s just amazing. There would be more such people. Sweet, patient and kind. She helps the people around her.”
