England is in mourning. Queen Elizabeth has left the world after 70 years in power. The monarchy will pass to her eldest son Charles. She succeeded her father, King George VI, who died on 6 February 1952. He died in his sleep at Sandringham Castle.
His place has since been taken by his eldest daughter. Although she could have chosen the name Mary III to avoid confusion with her mother, Queen Elizabeth, she ultimately chose to be known as Elizabeth II.
Prince William’s petite but courageous grandmother was proclaimed Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, head of the Commonwealth, supreme head of the Church of England and commander-in-chief of the British armed forces at 11.15am on 8 February 1952.
She remained head of the monarchy until her death on 8 September 2022. It should be noted that King Charles’s mother died at the age of 96. Queen Elizabeth survived a lot before taking her last breath. Her beautiful affair with Prince Philip is one of the most memorable stories.
Philip Mountbatten was actually a distant cousin of the queen, a member of the Greek royal family and a former associate of the king. The couple were married on 20 November 1947 and the wedding ceremony was one of the first to be broadcast in Western Europe. The couple loved each other very much and over the years created a family.
Their first child was King Charles III, born in 1948. Two years later Princess Anne joined the clan. She is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten.
According to the agreement, the Queen’s coffin will be taken to London by the Royal Train, passing through Edinburgh. It will stay for four days at Westminster Hall, the Houses of Parliament, where everyone will be able to pay their respects.
The state funeral will take place on 19 September 2022 at Westminster Abbey. In addition to the royal family, 2,000 heads of state will attend the ceremony.
