An old man, rejected by his children, receives a call from a young girl who asks him to walk her down the aisle

An old man, rejected by his children, is confused when he receives a call from a girl who asks him to take her to the wedding. He decides to meet her and find out who she is, while karma teaches his children a bitter lesson.

John is a single parent who raised his two children, Anna and Harry, with love and care after his wife passed away when they were toddlers.

Unfortunately, working as a cashier at a grocery store, John did not make much money and sometimes had to live from salary to salary. Nevertheless, he did his best for his children and gave them a decent life.

But when John’s old age approached, his children neglected him. They moved into his house with their families and kicked him out to live in their barn. John blamed himself terribly, but there was little he could do.

One morning, John was sitting in the barn looking through the family albums. He could not stop crying, thinking about how quickly time had passed and how his children had grown up and decided to leave him.

He slowly wipes away his tears, hoping that a miracle will change the course of his life. Suddenly his phone rings. He picks it up to find out who is calling and discovers that it is an unknown number.

He still answers the phone, but apart from bank staff with loan and credit card offers, he doesn’t get many calls. He answers with a greeting and he hears a quiet voice on the other end of the line.

“Hello, John,” she said. “I hope you’re all right. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”

John takes the phone away from his ear and looks at the number again. He doesn’t recognise the number or the caller. How did she know his name?

“I’m afraid I don’t recognise you, Miss. Who are you? Have we met before?” he asked, confused.

The girl laughs. “Of course John, we’ve met before! And after all you’ve done for me, I only have one last request. Will you walk me down the aisle?”

This request made John feel cold. Was it a joke?

“Look, miss,” he replied. ‘I’m afraid you’ve dialled the wrong number. Maybe you were looking for another John, not me. I’m sorry, I can’t help you. ”

“Please don’t !” She almost shouted into the phone as John pressed the phone to his ear again. “I didn’t get the wrong number. How about we meet somewhere? Trust me, I can explain everything…”

The woman gave John the address of the restaurant and suggested a time to meet. Before hanging up, she said: “I’ll be waiting for you.”

John had never been so confused in his life, so he decided to meet her and find out how she knew him. Two days later, when he got there, he saw a young girl waiting for him at a table.

John still doesn’t recognise her, but when she sees him, her eyes widen and she smiles, waving. Sitting down at the table, John looks at her in confusion.

“Do you recognise me now?” – she asks cheerfully, and John shakes his head. “I’m afraid not,” he says.

“My name is Clara, John!” – says the girl, and something happens in John’s mind.

“You can be angry with me right now, but one day you’ll thank me…”

“A few months ago I stood in front of this restaurant pregnant, hungry and tired,” she added. “I didn’t have a penny with me, but no one helped me but you, John. I hadn’t eaten for three days and I thought I was going to die with a baby in my belly…” she confessed, caressing her belly. “You saved us, John… You saved my daughter and me!”

John remembers everything now. He met Clara a few months ago. Her parents had thrown her out of the house because they were against her pregnancy. They didn’t want to support her, and she had no way to provide for herself after the baby’s father said he had nothing to do with her or the baby. But things have changed dramatically for her since then.

“Two months ago I found a job here as a waitress,” Clara adds. “I also met my husband here. This place has always been special to me, John. I wanted to see you again and I found your contact in one of our files. I’m sorry if I scared you,” she added with a smile.

John’s eyes sparkled. “Oh!” he laughed. “This old age is really getting to me! How could I not recognise you? I’m happy for you, my dear. Have you chosen a name for your little angel?”

“Well, I’d be happy if you did, John,” she added with a smile. “Graham and I would like you to be the godfather of our child. He can’t come today because he’s out of town… We sincerely hope you won’t refuse…”

At this point John cried. There was a stranger who treated him with a dignity he had never received from his children. They had never liked him, and then there was Clara, who wanted him not only to walk her down the aisle to her wedding, but to be godfather to her child.

John could not hold back tears at Clara’s offer. “Oh, come here,” he whispered, hugging her. “I’d love to, darling. I’d love to…”

Coming home that day, John felt like the happiest man alive. Suddenly he noticed his grandson Adam trying to build something out of wood.

“What are you doing here, Adam?” asked him Anna, approaching them.

“How many times do I have to tell you not to play here? Look how much dirt is on your clothes!” – she shouted angrily.

But Adam had a wide smile on his face. “You can be angry with me right now, but you’ll thank me one day, Mum… I’m building a house for you to live in when you’re old, like Grandpa lives in our barn!”

When Adam said this, Anna blushed with embarrassment. She was so embarrassed that she could not look John in the eye.

However, it seemed to John that God had answered his prayers and the miracle he had hoped for had happened. His children eventually apologised to him and relations between them improved.

He moved to live with his children and no longer needed to live in the barn. Not to mention that he had established a wonderful bond with Clara as godfather to her child and had the honour of leading her to the wedding as a proud father.
