WHAT KIND OF CAT DID THE 101-YEAR-OLD GRANDMOTHER TAKE FROM THE SHELTER?

Penny’s 101-year-old cat died, so she decided to get another pet. The grandmother’s relatives sent an application to an animal shelter in the U.S. state of North Carolina. They needed a cat that wasn’t very young.

At that time, Gus, a 19-year-old cat, had been living in the shelter for a month. The owner gave the cat up to the shelter because he couldn’t take care of it. The shelter staff had no hope of finding a new owner for such an old cat. But it was Gus who caught Penny’s eye.

“We are heartily happy about this event. Our 19-year-old great-grandfather (133 years old by human standards) is living in the house, its owner is 101 years old,” the shelter staff reported on their website.

Grandma Penny and Gus the cat immediately became friends. The cat is already getting used to its new home. One of its favorite things to do is to watch squirrels through the window.
