“Barbie” will become Warner Bros’ highest-grossing film, surpassing the “Harry Potter” finale

Most likely, the movie will break the studio’s record today.

According to Deadline, on this Monday, August 28th, Greta Gerwig’s film “Barbie” will become the highest-grossing film in the history of Warner Bros. Currently, this title belongs to the movie “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” ($1.341 billion). As of the past weekend (August 25-27), the total box office for “Barbie” was $1.34 billion, which means it is only $1 million away from breaking the studio’s record.

Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” has increased its box office to $777.2 million. At the moment, the film has already surpassed the performance of most of the director’s other movies, such as “Interstellar,” “Dunkirk,” and “Tenet.” The film is approaching the milestone of $800 million.

Last week, Nolan visited China, where he held a series of Q&A sessions and exclusive screenings of “Oppenheimer” to coincide with its upcoming release in the country. Additionally, over the past weekend, the film topped the box office in 82 national markets, including Italy, South Korea, and Greece. It appears that the film still has significant box office potential, despite being over a month since its US premiere.
