The 14-year-old singer performed an inspirational song on Canada’s Got Talent. Her name is Shea and she is originally from Vancouver. She has been singing all her life and immigrated from Hong Kong when she was four years old.
She dedicates her performance of “Like My Father” to her parents. Shea says she admires their relationship and wants to live like their family. They really love each other, and it shows.
Her parents are role models for her, and she treasures them very much. She rarely sees her father because he works in China, but he is very supportive of her musical dreams.
Shea describes music as a way of expressing her emotions. She feels ready for the competition, but is very nervous. She sits down on a stool to play an all-black acoustic guitar. Shea picks the guitar and begins to sing the song “Like My Father.”
The audience is immediately captivated by her performance, and the judges are surprised by Shea’s voice. In the middle of the performance, Judge Lilly stands up and asks the audience to clap to the beat of the guitar.
Shea’s mother cries backstage as everyone loves her daughter’s performance. After the song, Howie says, “You have an incredible voice. There are people older than you who get on that stage and can’t perform!”
Howie asks her, “What do you hope for most?” Shea replies: “I definitely want to get to the next round!” Howie replies: “Do you believe dreams come true?” She starts walking toward the Golden Buzzer, saying, “Your dreams are about to come true!” Howie presses the buzzer, and golden confetti flies around the audience and the stage. Shea’s mom joins her on stage, and Howie tells them she’s going to be a big star!
