This story happened in December of last year during the winter storm “Elliott”. In the US, due to bad weather, thousands of flights were canceled. Brittany Luby-Verwys’ trip was also canceled. She wanted to pick up her luggage at Tampa Airport and go back home.

“I have never seen anything like this,” Brittany said. “Just piles of luggage everywhere, in several rows.”

Brittany was looking for her luggage and noticed tags with contact numbers on some suitcases. She got the idea to send text messages to the owners. Brittany wrote where the luggage was located and in which city. She sent about 80 messages.

Brittany shared that some passengers came to the airport to search for their luggage for three days. And some of them stood in line for hours to get information, not realizing that their suitcases were just a few meters away.

Brittany advised travelers to attach a tag with their name and contact number to their luggage so that in such a situation, someone could help them by sending a text message.
“I think that everyone can always help someone else. Anyone could do what I did. It was very simple,” Brittany said.
