The poor thing was lying on the pavement in the very heat, and he didn’t even have the strength to whimper and ask for help. There was a spilt bottle of water next to it, and the dog was clearly dehydrated…
A resident of the American city of St Louis spotted the poor dog and immediately reported him to the local rescuers. The homeless dog was lying on the pavement on a hot day and was so weak that he could not move properly. He was very emaciated, and it was hard to look at him without pity.
When volunteers from the local shelter went to see him, they too were shocked. They saw a bottle of water spilled next to the dog – he must have lain in the puddle to cool off in the heat. Despite everything he had been through, he was happy to see people, and seemed to “smile” at them.
The dog was very docile and kind – whether from fatigue or just knowing he was being helped, he calmly got into the car and was taken to a shelter. He was given the name Curby. They started looking for a home for him right away, and a family of volunteers immediately took him in to look after him and restore him to health.
Curby is now safe and loving. He’s living at the family’s home, and he’s also got a best friend – the couple’s pet dog. Curby may have felt like a beloved pet for the first time in his life, and has blossomed. When he finally recovers, permanent owners will be found for him. Be happy, handsome boy!
