A passer-by happened to notice the little redhead hiding amongst the rocks beside the road. The frightened, weak baby was squeaking for help.
A passer-by in the Australian city of Brisbane noticed a tiny red-haired kitten running desperately along the roadside. He followed it and saw that the kitten jumped into a cluster of rocks near a stream and hid there. The kitten remained in hiding between the rocks, squeaking loudly and asking for help.

The man stopped, but he didn’t have time to rescue the kitten. He took a picture of the kitten and sent it to lost animal groups on social media. Luckily, volunteers from the local shelter, Best Friends Felines, quickly stumbled upon it.

One of the volunteers immediately went out to retrieve the baby. The woman safely retrieved the timid kitten, who was squeaking in fear between stones. The shelter determined that the baby weighed only 225 grams and was covered in fleas.

The kitten was about six weeks old, but was very emaciated and weak – at first volunteers thought it was much younger. On the same day, the staff tried to find other kittens or its mother in the area where the kitten was, but the search was unsuccessful.

The baby was named Mufasa and sent to a temporary care facility. There Mufasa was looked after, fed every hour, and everything was done for its comfort. Within a week Mufasa had gained about 100 grams, which was a great achievement.

Despite being small in size, Mufasa is a brave boy who has not given up and has remained strong. In the early days, the kitten was very afraid of people, but in its time with its guardian it has softened and now loves interacting with people.

Mufasa has become an affectionate lump who often demands to be petted and purrs loudly in the process. The kitten has many more bright achievements ahead of it, and is now enjoying life every day and growing up healthy.

When the little one is old enough, owners will be found for it. Many thanks to a kind passer-by who did not leave the little redhead in the lurch!
