5 ways Margo Robbie channeled her innermost Barbie before landing a role in the film

Margot Robbie’s press tour for the highly anticipated Barbie movie kicked off with a bang, as the star-studded event took place in LA, where Robbie made quite an entrance with a life-size model of one of the iconic doll’s beloved accessories.

The movie’s official Instagram page posted a few shots of the stunning actress posing next to a retro bubblegum pink Corvette. She wore a chic ensemble that perfectly complemented the car’s exterior.

Robbie’s stylish ensemble included a balconette bra top, a high-waisted pleated miniskirt and peep-toe stiletto heels. She completed the look with a matching compact tote, delicate drop earrings and a pair of fashionable white oval sunglasses. Robbie looked flawless with her natural-glam makeup, while her hair was styled in voluminous waves.

As Robbie channels the style of the world-renowned doll with aplomb, let’s take a look at her past outfits that evoke Barbie’s fashion sense.

A young 19-year-old Robbie appeared at the 2009 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, showing off a now-rare baby doll style for her.

The budding starlet graced the event in a strapless white minidress adorned with a pink printed figurine. The corset top of the gown was adorned with a charming pink corduroy bow, while the hem of the skirt was trimmed with a gold ribbon.

In one of her most Barbie-esque onscreen looks, Margot Robbie wore a vintage pink Herve Leger minidress and towering stilettos to play Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Robbie once shared that she was nervous about starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in such high heels, fearing she might accidentally hurt him. She explained that Naomi uses her sexuality and dress choices (or lack thereof) as power currency, a strategy she uses to control and manipulate situations, especially with Jordan.

Margot Robbie completely stole the show on the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet, looking like a real-life princess – or the doll of every girl’s dreams. She dazzled in a pastel pink Miu Miu halter gown that featured an elegant long train, playful feather detailing at the waist, and classic pearls adorning the bodice.

The Aussie beauty kept her makeup minimal with bold brows, a soft blush on her cheeks and a subtle nude lipstick. Her hair was styled in effortless waves.

Margot Robbie once again made a stunning statement in pink during the “Mary Queen of Scots” press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel on November 16, 2018. The starlet looked effortlessly chic in an oversized Chanel tweed jacket in a vibrant shade of pink from her spring collection.

To complete her look, Robbie accessorized her ensemble with bright pink lipstick and a bold black bow, which matched the pink and black hues of her outfit.

On January 29, 2020, Margot Robbie channeled her fearless “Birds of Prey” character, Harley Quinn, in a fashion-forward ensemble at the London premiere. In the film, Harley breaks up with the Joker, portrayed by Jared Leto in the DC series.

Like her bold on-screen persona, Robbie stole the spotlight with her bright pink over-the-elbow gloves.

To complete her dramatic look, she wore a black feather-embellished bodice paired with a sweeping, ruffled, floor-length skirt. She was sure to turn heads on the red carpet.
