While walking through the neighborhood, a woman suddenly heard strange noises that sounded like squeaks. She decided to find out where the sound was coming from and approached one of the yards.
During a routine walk through her neighborhood, a South Carolina resident heard strange squeaking noises. They were coming from a vacant yard, and they immediately caught the woman’s attention. She decided to see who was making the noises, and she saw little puppies huddled under some bushes.
The puppies were lying on an old blanket, and as she approached, the woman noticed that the mother dog was lying next to them. She was a very attentive protector of her cubs. As soon as she noticed the woman she began to growl. She decided to contact the professionals and called the animal rescuers at Logan’s Legacy Animal Shelter.
A volunteer named Suzette arrived on the scene. She carefully picked up the puppies and quickly moved all five into the car. It was the mother’s turn. For her, the volunteer set up a humane cage trap, and inside she put treats and a couple of puppies to get the mom to agree to go inside faster. And so it happened – all the dog wanted was to be reunited with the babies.
The family was then taken to a veterinary clinic. The mother dog, named Bambi, was in perfect condition. The puppies were not found to have any problems either, so they quickly found a doggie shelter for the family. In a few weeks, when the puppies are older and recovered, they and their mommy will find permanent owners. For now, the whole family is happily living at the shelter – and very grateful to their rescuers!
