A New Yorker named Ariel was cycling in the local nature reserve when she suddenly noticed a flock of swans. One swan was sitting apart from everyone else, and the girl, who was an employee of the animal rescue centre, knew immediately that something was wrong with the bird…
The girl tried to get close to the bird, but it could not get up, and only began to crawl with the help of its wings. Then Ariel managed to pick up the swan in time – she decided to take it to the rescue centre.
After asking a passerby for help, they took the bird to the Wild Bird Fund rescue centre by underground. As the vets discovered, the swan was suffering from an infection and was also found to have lead poisoning. Ariel discovered it just in time.
“When I found it, it was almost unconscious, lethargic, weak. It was shaking in my arms,” says Ariel. The centre’s staff are now restoring the bird’s health, and it is under the watchful eye of a caring team.
