The dog spent its whole life on a chain without shelter: in the rain, in the snow, and the food was potato peels.

This dog has been chained up for many years. Those who chained it did not install a kennel nearby or provide any shelter from the weather. In the heat, in the cold, in the rain, and in the wind, the animal was outside. The dog was never taken for a walk and all it ate was potato peels and bones, carefully cleaned of meat. When Baron saw the sour soup in its bowl, it considered itself truly lucky. The dog ate quickly, believing that if it did not finish its food quickly, even that food could be taken away from it.

We were told about Baron by its owner’s neighbors. The man was gone, and the neighbors did not know what to do with the dog. Volunteers came to pick up Baron, but realizing that the dog might react negatively to the relocation, it was temporarily put to sleep.

Baron’s adaptation was not quick, but it soon learned to go for walks. It turned out that, having spent its whole life on a chain, the dog did not even know how to run, only walk in circles.

Baron has had to learn what other dogs have been able to do almost since birth, but it has proved to be a good student. According to its neighbors, Baron is now 10 years old, so it needs a family to take care of its old age and make sure it has a better life than before. The dog’s change of circumstances has instilled genuine joy; it seems to be experiencing a second youth.

At the shelter, Baron has changed, it no longer suffers from the constant cold, has been able to lift its head and begins to move quickly, because it is not restrained by a metal chain. The dog is affectionate and shows its gratitude to the people who take care of it.

Baron is now able to run and play with toys. So far, it lives in a group home and is already very happy with the new conditions, but I hope that it will have time to learn what it means to be a pet in a family that loves you.
