Man becomes best friend to blind dog from shelter

At the large Furever Rescue Foster shelter for animals with special needs in Cairo, a man called Ahmed Embabi has been a volunteer for many years. He has helped hundreds of dogs adapt to new environments. But it is only with a dog called Araf that he has become such a friend.

Araf has no eyesight, but he has a keen sense of smell and hearing. Araf can recognize his best friend’s voice from a thousand. When Embaby calls out his dog’s name, he rushes out to meet him.

Ahmed Embabi admits: “I never cease to be amazed at the unbridled joy with which a dog greets me. This proves once again that the love of dogs is amazing and unselfish.”

The dog’s eyesight will never be restored. However, his emotional state has stabilised after he arrived at the shelter. In addition, the dog has gained weight and has learned to behave both with his own kind and with people.

It is especially important that Araf learned to love a man, and his strong friendship with Ahmed Embabi is proof of that. True, for Araf, the volunteers are still looking for a family, Ahmed can not take him.

It’s hard because not everyone is ready to take care of a blind dog. But Embabi thinks it’s possible to find a family for Araf, a devoted and very friendly dog. He says he will continue to communicate with him when Araf leaves for his permanent home.
