Paquita, a dog from Argentina, liked to run around the neighbourhood near its home. One day it ran so far away that it couldn’t find its way home.
Kind people brought a beautiful, well-groomed dog to the shelter. The shelter staff wanted to take a photo to post on the website. But the dog curled up in a corner and stayed like that for several days. It took a long time to get a good photograph.
No one took the dog for two years. People usually chose cheerful dogs, but no one wanted to take the sad ones. The shelter staff still managed to take a photo of Paquita and post it on the website. Soon the shelter received a message from a woman who claimed that the dog belonged to her son Ariel and he was looking for it.
Mother and son came to the shelter together. At first the dog showed no interest in Ariel. The man squatted down and called the dog by name. It turned its head, sniffed and approached. When it recognized Ariel, there was no limit to its joy.
“I was sad when I lost my dog, but when we met, it was amazing. There are no words to describe it,” said Ariel.
