When the owner got the call that her dog had been found – at first she thought it was a hoax. Her dog had been missing for five years and the family no longer hoped to see it again…
Five years ago, the Malmstrom family from the USA discovered the loss. Their beloved dog named Sheba has disappeared. According to the owners, the dog could have been stolen directly from the yard where the dog was walking on the day of the disappearance. The family tried to find a pet, but the search was unsuccessful.
It had been a long five years, and the family had already lost all hope… Until the owner, Stephanie, recently received a phone call from the shelter. “At first I thought it was a prank. But then where’s my million dollars?” – Stephanie said. She couldn’t believe what the shelter staff said until the last minute. It wasn’t until a video call, when she was shown the dog, that she realised it was her Sheba.
An animal welfare officer found Sheba in the street. It was wandering alone and was being fed by a teenage boy. The officer decided to scan the dog for a chip – and found a chip with the owner’s details. Sheba was found 1000 kilometres away from its home – no one knew how it had got there, but for the owners it was no longer important. The main thing was that Sheba was alive and well!
Pilots N Paws transported Sheba by helicopter, after which the owners finally met their pet. Sheba immediately recognised them and threw itself into kissing them. “I went through every emotion possible. Sheba didn’t stop hugging our daughters for a long time,” said the owner.
Despite spending five years apart, Sheba still loves its family – and it’s completely mutual. It is now happy and surrounded by love again. Such a touching story!
