A SHEEPDOG HAS BECOME A MOTHER TO A POSSUM

The baby possum held onto its mother as she ran across the road at night. The female was hit by a car, but the tiny cub survived.

It was taken to the vet. The baby was found to be healthy and was named Poncho. It was too small and needed a mother’s care. Hanta, a white German shepherd, came to the rescue. Poncho immediately clung to it as if it was its mother. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

Although three years have passed, the animals are always together. Poncho still likes to walk on Hanta’s back, just as it did as a child.

They live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, under the Rare Species Foundation.
