Passers-by saw this old dog in the street as it was eating scraps of rubbish. It was impossible to look at it without pity – people were heartbroken and could not pass it by.
This dog was found on the streets of Louisiana, USA. At the time, the dog looked awful and sad – thin, sickly-looking, hungry, and scavenging for scraps to survive. Fortunately, it was reported to a local shelter whose staff were immediately happy to take it in – but were also shocked by the animal’s condition.
The shelter determined that the dog was elderly – about 10-12 years old. The poor dog suffered an ear and skin infection, and one leg was broken. It was given the name Abby and they began to help it in every way possible. Abby was bathed daily with special baths, had its ears treated, and had lots of love, which is the primary medicine. The dog was very grateful for this.
A little later Abby underwent surgery, but it came through it just fine. As time passed and its health recovered, so did its external changes. Soon the dog was unrecognizable compared to the desperate creature it was at the beginning of its journey. Now Abby is an adorable little girl who really loves life. Its rescuers can’t believe the journey it’s taken, and they love this sweet creature with all their hearts.
Abby has yet to complete its one course of treatment, but when it is finished, permanent owners will be found for it. Let’s wish this beautiful girl a better home!
